Is this love? Oh what a feeling!
Tonight I cashed in all my indie rock credit, turned in the ceremonial black leather cuff, and hung the chuck taylors up for retirement ... to rock out to ...
WHITESNAKE
and it was AWESOME!tight pants, unbuttoned dress shirts, gods of 80s rock posturing, 7 full stack marshall amplifiers, wailing screams from front man Davie Coverdale, mind melting minute guitar solos, and a manic 15 minute drum solo that would make Animal the muppet weep ... it was all that you could imagine and dream of!
the sound was so loud that I still haven't regained my hearing almost an hour later.
2 best things about tonight ...
1. Didn't pay to get in
2. Found some old dudes wallet, found old dude, returned wallet ... FREE BEER!
blogger what?
I think everyone hates blogging. Some few updates these days. I know I've been slacking, maybe more than anyone (except
Chris Boylan). Even
Uncle Grambo seems to have fallen off the Earth.
Not too much to report. Been busy with the job over the last couple weeks. I had to step it up, take on more responsibilities while we search for a replacement for the recently departed
Mary.
Hopefully something exciting or, at the very least, interesting will happen soon, so I have something to share. Maybe I should get out more?
he's a lover, not a fighter
I got a surprise today. Not only is the copy of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" that I picked up for $1 in ok shape, but when I went to put the record back in the sleeve I noticed something odd ... red crayon ...
I pulled the paper sleeve out of the jacket and this is what I got ...

a kids drawing of Michael! How delightful is that?
watch out!
i broke out of a 3 day hibernation (wow, it seems like longer than that. trying to save cash kind of sucks) last night to head out to Baar Bizarre at the Garden Bowl. there were some cool wares ... mostly vintage clothing and other quirky hipster gear. more stuff for grrls than the fellas fo'sho. the best items were these 3 ring notebooks that someone had made out of the covers of record albums.
liz was nice enough to buy me 2 records - Johnny Cash's "The Last Gunfighter Ballad" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller". For $1 each you couldn't pass them by. I haven't listened to either yet, but the Cash album has one of the coolest covers ever with Johnny dressed all in black with a big black cowboy hat pulled down so you can't see his eyes and him pointing a 6-shooter directly at the camera as if he was going to shoot you right between your eyes.
other highlights of the night:
-the new, ?improved? Bronx bar where apparently it is perfectly ok to give your boyfriend a haircut right in the middle of the bar. just plop down a stool, snap that itchy cape around his neck, and snip, snip, snip.
-the cracked out ass speeding south on the northbound Lodge freeway
fun music ...
be sure to take a listen to the "We Will Rock Beverly Hills" mash-up located in the sidebar ... queen + weezer + joan jett + lynard skynard ... audio dy-no-mite!
also ...
Chance cover of Prince's "When Doves Cry"!
bummed
Our mighty softball team fell 9-7 to an inferior team tonight. Very disappointing. The lose puts our current record at 4-1. A chocolatey Leo's Coney Island milkshake is helping me shake off the sorrow.
On my drive home from work, I saw a very scruffy looking man cut through a fence and walk down the embankment of the freeway. I was in my car, stopped at the red light at the the corner of the service drive and 9 mile. I watched him as he crossed overpass, cut through the fence, and disappeared down toward the freeway. I am very curious to where he was headed. Why would anyone need or want to go down there? If it was a rainy day I would assume he was seeking shelter under the overpass, but this afternoon was perfectly beautiful. Maybe he needed a dark place to hit the bottle (or the needle). I think if I wasn't in my car, I would have followed him. This has brought on the realization of how little I know about the city I've lived in for nearly two years. Add to the To-Do List: Go exploring.
