create a band
after reading
big matt's review of Detroit's Velvet Revolver show and a great article ms. lizzz passed along about the
upcoming collab between favs The Darkness and The Black Eyed Peas, i began to dream up the idea of THE ULTIMATE BAND. a game i'm sure we've all played before either by ourselves on a lonely saturday morning or with intoxicated mates on a late weekend evening, but may not have ever commited to writing.
of the stars, musicains, and popular personalities that we devote too much of our lives following, who would you put together to make THE ULTIMATE BAND! think bill & ted's Wyld Stalyns. this band would be undeniable, and change not only the muscial landscape as we know it, but the entire world by bringing peace, love, and rock & roll to all corners of the earth.
your band can have as many or as few members as you like. beware of internal conflicts that your band might face. if you bring to many spotlight whores (i.e., courtney love) to the party your band could fall apart quickly. list names, past bands, instruments played, producers for their first and only album, whatever, anything goes!
sweet relief
i called out and the Alias gods have answered . . . from
SciFi Wire . . .
Alias Gone Until January
ABC announced that the fourth season of its cult hit spy show Alias will air without repeats next year, but that it won't begin until January, the Zap2it Web site reported. ABC made the announcement May 18 during its so-called "upfront" presentation to advertisers in New York.
Alias' location-heavy shooting schedule has made it difficult to deliver a large number of consecutive episodes, network executives said.
Stephen McPherson, ABC's president of prime-time entertainment, said that Alias creator J.J. Abrams came to him at the end of this season and said he wanted to "get back to some of the stuff that first inspired [Abrams] about the show," the site reported. "I think he saw [Alias star Jennifer Garner] in 13 Going on 30, and there was such joy and happiness in her face," McPherson said. "I think we really want to get some of that infused back into the show, and we want to have a good running start to be able to do that." The third-season finale of Alias, "Resurrection," will air May 23.
. . . this will give me time to catch up through season 3 before season 4 begins. although after last nights 3 hour Alias marathon, i'm beginning to question the plot line.
the alias dilemma
so i'm completely hooked on the show Alias, but not the actual show that airs every Sunday evening. i'm hooked on the DVD series. currently, i'm in the middle of the 2nd season. i would like to watch the Sunday shows, but i would be missing so much information. how do i catch up before the 4th season starts next fall? i hoped that the 3rd season would come out sometime this summer, but no. its not being released until September 7th. This does not give me enough time to watch all 22-24 season 3 episodes before the 4th season starts. what to do, what to do? i'm not sure if ABC will be airing reruns of season 3 this summer. this is my only hope at this point. life is so stressful sometimes.
team darkness

best news for today, the Hawkins brothers from The Darkness are on a 'football'(soccer) team called Team Darkness that plays exhibition games against other rockers like Iron Maiden. They play in the 10th Annual Music Industry Soccer Six tournament tomorrow at Leed United's Ellad Road. More info

pre-stroke
last night before the big bad Strokes show at the State Theatre, liz and i had a nice diner at one of our favorite downtown restaurants the Traffic Jam & Snug. its a nice place, with good prices, great food, and they have many choices for a good lil' vegetarian such as myself. anyway, as we were finishing our meal our eccentric waitress came by to check on us. during this process, she commented on how fast we had scarfed down our food. being slightly embarrassed, i made the excuse that neither us had ate lunch. (which is true) in which she replied, "i know how you feel. i'm kind of on that plan today, too. i had a poor mans speedball. a pot of coffee and some reefer". i feel so much closer to her now.
Dean says, "Cooaacheelllaaa"
Oh Coachella, how i miss you already. last weeks festivities are too difficult to completely encapsulate here. fun was had, minds were rocked, and our bodies' tolerance to the desert sun were tested. for visual highlights please refer to my photo blog.
after Coachella, we headed to San Diego. its a nice place to live, but i wouldn't want to visit there. of course, we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, so as we were ending our trip the locals were just beginning their work week. we bummed around and went shopping in every resale shop the city had to offer.
the one redeeming quality SD had to offer is
fm94.9. this is the best alternative rock radio station I've ever heard! their playlist is so broad that i only heard one song played twice which was The VonBondies "C'mon, C'mon". every new song was a favorite ranging from Muse and Stellatarr* to Green Day and Rage Against the Machine all the way back to The Cure and XTC. They stream live, so check them out!
upon my return to Detroit i found out a tasty tidbit about fm94.9 . its program director is none other that Garrett Michaels ex-PD of The Planet 96.3 . why must my life be a horrible ironic joke?
