I was going to email this around but it takes less effort to post it here . . . please read the whole thing . . . it is very humorous and worth the 2 minutes of you time . . .

Subject: WILL HELL FREEZE OVER?

The following is said to be an actual answer given to a question in a University of Washington physics mid-term exam. The answer was so 'profound' that the Professor shared it with colleagues, which is why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

BONUS QUESTION: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave -- therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, lets look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell, since Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So, which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms Andrea Banyan during my Freshman year, that "...it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not had sexual relations with her, then, #2 cannot be true. Thus, I am sure that Hell is exothermic and cannot freeze.
The student received the only "A" grade given.

I want to go on the record and state that last nights "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" was the funniest episode I have seen to date . . . I almost rolled off the couch I was laughing so hard . . . Sen. McCain was the guest and some how was able to rip on his own party and the President without mentioning any names . . . why can't he be our President? . . . oh right . . . he has 1/2 a brain . . .

also . . . I would like to second Liz's passion for the Jimmy Gnecco show at the Magic Bag, Tuesday . . . I don't know if it was the best show in 5 years . . . but it beat out my current favorite show which is/ was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Stick a few months back . . . I sure hope someone picks up the Ours pieces and really gives them a chance . . . that includes "alternative" radio . . . enough with the Pop Punk already . . . that shite is becoming the boy bands of rock . . . with their entire fan base composed of 13 year old girls . . . plus they're all Green Day rip offs . . . don't forget to respect your elders son! . . .

I am a HTML master . . . okay, maybe not . . . but I was able to change the colors in the blogger template to match those on my website . . . and, this just in . . . a little cut / paste and now I have the navigation bar is part of my blog also . . .

my new addiction might be Inside The Actors Studio . . . it is kool to know that there is a University that has a class in which famous actors in and discuss their careers with your professor . . . and then it is taped, edited, and played back as a program on Bravo . . . last night Tom Cruise was on for 2 hours for the show 10 Anniversary . . . I'm not a huge fan of his work, but I like it when you get to see how actors really are . . . their human side . . . plus I find them less intimidating in 4x3 as opposed to 16x9 . . .

. . . things to look forward to today / tonight . . .

getting paid to do nothing a work
falafel dinner
grocery shopping
new season of American Choppers on Discorvery Channel

. . . American Choppers? . . . I know it doesn't seem like a show I would be into since I'm not a biker and don't own anything leather except shoes and a belt . . . BUT . . . I find that I can get into any tv show where people put things together or take things apart . . . Junkyard Wars is a favorite . . . or even better is when they put things together, then blow them apart . . . such as Mythbusters . . . great show . . .

2004 . . . so what . . . New Years was a bit uneventful this year, but I'm completely okay with that . . . I just wasn't in the mood or the mind set to go out livin' it up . . . Liz and I enjoyed dinner at Sangria in Royal Oak . . . this was the 3rd consecutive year . . . making it an official tradition . . . usually it is Liz, Jax, and myself but Jax unfortunately was unable to attend this year . . . the food was divine per usual . . . if you have never been, please make an effort . . . it is worth it . . . the various warm and cold tapas are wonderful . . . my favorite has to be the spinach stuffed portabella in red sauce . . . so simple, but so good . . . I didn't have lunch today . . . can you tell? . . . after 2 hours of stimulating food and conversation, they kicked us out . . . literally . . . they have table time limit of 1 1/2 hours on New Years Eve . . . later we made our appearance at Emily's party in Detroit . . . joining the Pop Culture DVD Trivial Pursuit game in progress . . . very difficult . . . and the DVD element is a bit of a novelty . . . I like the old skool rules better . . . we rang in the New Year with Dick Clark, Champagne, and ?12 grapes? . . . I'm still fuzzy on the official rules for the 12 grapes for 12 months tradition . . . but I have a feeling that my Nov & Dec '04 will be disasterous . . . Liz and I called it an early night . . . back home at 1am . . . lights out, good year, & good night . . .
